Google Docs

With the Google Docs skill you have GENI write, read, summarise and update documents without opening a browser. You get the link back straight away.

Available from Growth. You need a connected Google account.

What can GENI do with Google Docs?

  • Read a document via its URL or document ID
  • Create a new document with content it writes itself
  • Summarise a long document down to the key points
  • Edit a section or propose a change in an existing document

Example: what you ask, what you get

Write a project proposal for Bakkerij De Krent, two pages

Done: Project proposal Bakkerij De Krent docs.google.com/document/d/1a2b3c...

Structured as: background, approach in three phases, planning, investment and next step. I kept your standard payment terms and the formal tone.

Shall I fill in the investment table with amounts?

And when summarising:

Summarise the contract in this doc

The core in five points

  • Term 12 months, automatically renewed for 12 months
  • Notice period 3 months, in writing
  • Annual price indexation, capped at 5 percent
  • Liability limited to the invoice amount
  • Disputes before the Oost-Brabant district court

Watch the automatic renewal; that one is easy to miss.

What it costs

Action Credits
Read a document 15
Summarise a document 65
Edit a section 25
Create a new document with content 650

Creating costs considerably more because GENI writes a full text. See The credit system.

Limits

  • Creating and editing ask for confirmation.
  • GENI does not delete documents.
  • Formatting stays simple. Headings, paragraphs and lists yes; columns, boxes and images no.
  • It works on text. Tables are read, but complex formatting is lost.
  • Only documents your account can reach.
  • An edit overwrites the section. For large changes it is better to have a new document created.

Troubleshooting

It cannot open the document. Check that your account has access and that you gave the right link. A link to a folder does not work, only to a document.

The formatting disappoints. Ask for the text and do the formatting yourself, or have it keep to a simpler structure.

An edit lands in the wrong place. Name the section as precisely as possible, for example by the heading above it.

Creating costs more credits than expected. That is correct: 650 credits, because a full text is written. Reading and summarising are far cheaper.
