Four Search Console questions, ten minutes a month

Search Console has dozens of reports, but for a small business four questions are enough. Ask them to GENI every month and you know what to do.

The short answer
For a small business, four questions are enough to make Search Console useful. Which pages got many impressions but few clicks? For which searches are you just outside the first page? Which pages grew or dropped? And are there pages Google cannot read? Ask those four every month and you have a list of what to improve. With the Search Console connection in dGENIX, you simply ask GENI.
Why most people never open Search Console
Search Console is free and shows exactly how Google sees your site. Yet hardly any business owner opens it. The screen is full of charts and reports, and it is not clear what to do with them. So it is left alone.
It does not have to be complicated. You only need a few numbers, and the same questions every month.
Question 1: many impressions, few clicks
"Which pages had many impressions this month but a low click-through rate?"
A page that is shown often but rarely clicked has a title or description that does not invite a click. Or the page answers a different question than the searcher asks. Rewrite the title and the first sentence so they answer the search more literally. That is often the quickest win.
Question 2: just outside the first page
"For which searches am I on average between position 8 and 20?"
Those are your opportunities. Google finds your page relevant, but just not good enough. A few extra paragraphs, a frequently asked questions block or a few internal links from strong pages can be enough to move to the first page. How internal links work is covered in internal links and SEO.
Question 3: what grew and what dropped
"Which pages got more or fewer clicks this month than last month, and by how much?"
A page that drops needs attention. Maybe the content is outdated, or a competitor has a better page. A page that grows shows what works. Write more of that.
Question 4: can Google read everything?
"Are there pages that are not indexed, and why?"
Search Console reports pages Google cannot or will not index, with a reason. A page with an error, a page excluded by accident or a duplicate page. Fix the important ones, the rest can wait. A full check is in the SEO audit checklist.
How to set it up with dGENIX
Step 1: connect Search Console
Go to Connectors and connect Google Search Console. You give permission to read your data. GENI cannot change anything on your site with it.
Step 2: ask the questions
Ask the four questions above in a chat. GENI fetches the numbers and puts them in an overview.
Step 3: make it a monthly task
Schedule it as a fixed task on the first working day of the month:
"On the first working day of every month, answer these four questions about last month, and add what I should do for each point. One screen at most."
How scheduled tasks work is in scheduled tasks explained.
Step 4: act on it
A report you read and put away delivers nothing. Pick three points every month and work on them. Ask GENI for a new title for the page with few clicks, or for a questions block for the page in position twelve.
Combine with Analytics
Search Console shows how people find you. Google Analytics shows what they do next. Also connect Google Analytics, then you can ask: "which pages from Google led to an enquiry this month?" That is the question that really matters.
What the SEO Engine adds
If you want to go beyond the four questions, the SEO Engine runs a technical check of your site and gives recommendations per page. Also read AI and SEO in 2026 for the bigger picture.
An example monthly overview
On the first working day of the month, GENI's answer can look like this:
Many impressions, few clicks: your page about maintenance contracts was shown often but rarely clicked. The title has no price, while most searches include "cost". Suggestion: put a starting price in the title.
Just outside the first page: "boiler breakdown weekend" is in position 11. The page only mentions the weekend service at the bottom. Suggestion: a paragraph at the top and a question in the FAQ block.
Dropped: the heat pump page got fewer clicks than last month. The subsidy amounts on it are from last year.
Not indexed: two old promotion pages, they can go.
Four points, each with a concrete action. You can finish them in an hour, and next month you see whether it worked. Keep the outcomes in one document, and after six months you see which kind of change pays off most for your site.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to set up Search Console myself?
Yes, once: add your site and confirm it is yours. Then connect it to dGENIX.
How long until there is data?
Search Console shows data from the moment your site is added. After a few weeks you have enough for the first questions.
Can GENI change anything on my site?
Not through Search Console, that is read-only. GENI can write new titles or texts for you that you place yourself.
